Trip to Hawaii or the Cautionary Tale of Writing Someone Else's Tune.. (sung to the tune of 'At Seventeen')

Stepping on broken shells
Caught up in some enchanted spell
Walking along a sandy beach
With the ocean just outside our reach

We climbed a mountain just to look at the stars
Drove on roads not meant for cars
Playing tag amongst the banyon trees
And lay out with the ocean breeze

You and I, hand in hand
Listening to some hawaiian band
Watching as the big whales breach
Or scuba diving underneath
For two weeks we're in paradise
Never thought the world could be this nice
It's gotta be a dream
That's how it seemed

Author's Note
I made the mistake of listening to Violet Grohl paying homage to Janis Ian by singing 'At Seventeen' the night before I wrote this. While I had no tune in my head, I followed the cadence and it wasn't till I got to 'that's how it seemed' that I realized what I had done.
I remember Ringo Starr telling the tale of bringing a song he wrote to Paul McCartney and Paul telling everyone, "He's done it again, He wrote someone else's song."
