Lions Upon The Sea

Lions Upon The Sea

I dreamed a dream of silver Sealions
Glistening under a charcoal downbeat sky (jq)
The seas surged, in a headstrong wind
As the Sealions began to fly (jdb)
Higher, and higher, til they became as one
With the clouds in the sky (jq)
Then one let out, an enormous bellow
"How come my clouds, are never yellow?" (jdb)
"I don't know!" said one
"But beware of yellow snow!" (jq)
"Don't you realise, and don't you know?"
"That it is us, that makes this yellow snow!"
They decided to leave the 'charcoal downbeat sky'
As they weren't destined, to fly so high
And so, they returned to the shimmering seas down below
Their silvery skins, reflected under the moonlit glow (jdb)
…Reflecting upon this recent excursion,
The sea lions said
“Let us make a new version
Of our Life Story
And rewrite the vision of who we are!” (jq)
The sea lions all applauded
Flapping their flippers together
Wise words were much lauded
Despite the stormy weather (jdb)
So they flapped, they flowed, and flippered (dec 13th 2022
As they boarded a boat within
Their ship was now skippered
By the sultry southern wind
As their manes of moustaches
Hang lively, and loose, and fluttered
They bellowed, and roared like lions
Yet not a word was uttered
They sailed across many a sea
Finally finding, a great land of mystery
The Galapagos Islands
was the eventual destination
Their ship finally running aground
they used their teeth like anchors
Long had they yearned for this
Long they had hankered
There ship soon hit rocks
As outwardly they swam
They were soon on land
As their ship now sank
Their sailing skills, all a sham
They then bellowed with delight
Under the mad moonlight
And their 'fangs were all aglow
The Sea Lions all now knew
Apart from a few
How they caused the great yellow snow(jdb)
