Golden Gate Mists

Golden Gate Mists

Golden Gate Park arches
Into timeless breakfast
Where the thirties slumber
Over English muffins and OJ
Her visage a wrinkled clock
When we talk the clouds part in her eyes
And her memories surface like the rainbow
of a cresting dolphin
As I help her remember her life
And her travels are a hope renewed
Shared over blackberry jam and toast
Her eyes zero in on me
While flower petals
From the blue sea of sky
Are her word shower
That I sprinkle into the land
Of Vietnam where the lotus-gatherer ladies
Meet with a sparkle in her eyes
So that sunbeams illuminate her past
Into a beautiful echo
Of a blur of ramen noodle soup
And far eastern steeples
I fill in the Stupas of Thailand
She smiles in recognition
Of a time long lost
