Coal Makes Diamonds
I'm as wretched as a soul can be
Did you see the way I fall?
My heart is black as coal
and I can't see
Any reason for it all
When you went away and
took my soul
You left a different kind of pain
If this is truly what you want from me
Then slice me open once again
We were islands and I knew,
the distance between us would grow
An onyx night fell around us both
We'll blow our sirens just to show
We could be brilliant one day
Let's press through what
we have done
Remember when the
pressure heightens,
even coal makes diamonds
Did you see the way I fall?
My heart is black as coal
and I can't see
Any reason for it all
When you went away and
took my soul
You left a different kind of pain
If this is truly what you want from me
Then slice me open once again
We were islands and I knew,
the distance between us would grow
An onyx night fell around us both
We'll blow our sirens just to show
We could be brilliant one day
Let's press through what
we have done
Remember when the
pressure heightens,
even coal makes diamonds
