Soul "Mates"
I once thought
FATE
brought us together
the sea
the moon
the stars
aligned perfectly
our souls spoke
their own language
while our bodies intertwined
I now know
KARMA
brought us together
Mother nature's audience
aligned to laugh
at our broken lives
our unredeemed souls
suffering from
past mistakes
both
longing to be
the cockroach
instead
of each others
soul "mates"

CYNICAL BUT BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN

This poem is so sarcastic in such a subtle way that one could mistake it for a love poem....
Very clever use of language
A good read

Fully agree with somelikeithot.
very clever analogy of the process where one discovers fate can work two ways and karma trumps fate every fkn time.
really enjoyable read Rachel, love the direction your work is going.
shine on!

Thank you Eamon! I am so glad you liked it. :D
You're right about Karma trumping Fate. Karma can be a bitch.
I truly appreciate your comments. :)

Not much i can say that wasn't said already.
Sometimes fate is karma i suppose and vice versa.
A clever little write and beautifully written!

Again, you craft a scene with layers beyond a casual glimpse.
In youth, expectations and perceptions regarding love are lofty while often murky. Eventually, some awake from the slumber and reckon the reality of disappointment. Easy to be jaded toward love and romance... yet life is an adventure of possibilities we get to explore every day.
