Morning Sunshine

Your smile brings the sunrise to my day
A child sees a first winter snowfall
No more magically than your admiration of a new morning
The sun itself is excited to raise it’s sleepy head and paint a new sky
For an audience of one

Indulging at the evolving spectacle, you spend time with each detail
You ponder who’s the artist just on the other side of the clouds
Showing off with that vivid color palette

I wonder how rich those pink and purple brushstrokes appear to your eye
I wonder if I’ve ever seen a color so brilliant
I bet your clouds are outlined in silver
Your tones all look like a wish came true
And each sun ray is pointed right at your heart

Then my favorite thing,
that special moment,
I watch you pause
And bond with the mountain trees,
Giving your gratitude to the spirits
For sending you the morning breeze
Then you add your breath to it

The next thought you share
Is a gift to me
Born in an etherial place
Where body, spirit and wind
Collaborated on a dayspring work of art
