ending lines

"hey"
it's been a while.
you sounded somewhat cheerful,
acting in place
as if you picked up your smile.

you knew I've had it,
with the lame tricks that I found.
said it nicely,
politely,
that you will get up from the ground
or you would have to leave this house.

because you're in the drain and think that it's ok in stealing my energy,
you're draining me,
with your complaining
of all this misery,
about how you don't need saving
but you're hanging on to me.
cutting into my circulation,
about to burst.
here's your glee,
as I began to bleed.

using me for the entertainment of the life I was living,
a true novella,
had your tea spilling in amazement.
there was in fact pure comedy
until you became heavy about my healing.
you would have rather seen me at my lowest,
struggling at its slowest in how I was dealing.

feeding on me
almost fell onto my knees
I balanced my step
I wasn't finished yet.
reversed the snooze button you tried to eject.
power walking while lighting your fifth cigarette,
not even booze could boost your inflated chest,
storming to prove when puffing your chest, that you were no longer a cowardice.
it just made everything around you seem so less.
clouded in all to be cherished.

you proved to be a pest just like the rest,
when indeed,
I gave you an open invitation to feast with me.
I could never perceive in greed
it wouldn't be fulfilling as achieving dreams,
not everything is all that it seems,
but how can we look at the stars and forget what they mean.

Author's Note
this was written about a best friend of almost 20 years in making.
we've come to many crossroads with and without each other, but another road led us to a place where we could no longer communicate as we once did before. the changing took a turn with creating space that became heartbreaking yet vital for one another's growth. no matter the differences or any amount of distances, my heart will always go out to her.
