sometimes believing is seeing

a recent visit
to a new Chinese. restaurant
a surprisingly authentic one
had me responding to
unfamiliar menu items
like an immature, xenophobic shithead

"Eww, pork kidneys, ew ew ew"
i said quietly

i finally found and enjoyed a familiar-ish entree

i cracked open my fortune cookie
silently hoping for an interesting-enough grouping of words
to invoke
evoke
contemplate
or amuse

instead, i got this:
