Fire Sisters

We were never far apart
Shared just about everything it seemed
Even shared the same heart
Being friends with her answered all my dreams

Both from a troubled family
We did our best to survive
She saw a need in me
We kept each other alive

We were of the same astrological sign
She an intellect and addict
Me an introvert by design
Everything with us just seemed to click

Then one day my whole world changed
My friend sister went of her meds
Our friendship became rearranged
Angry she said she wanted me dead

I tried my best to understand
See, I'm on meds too
But this was not in the plans
So I hoped her old personality would breakthrough

There were times we went through hell
She was supposed to come back
We suddenly stopped being friends
Everything just went off track

She sent a dear john letter to her man
He needed some consoling
This wasn't in the game plan
And I suddenly found myself falling

Over time we grew closer
Became lovers and good friends ourselves
I'm sure my fire friendship is definitely over
Just another dusty book on the shelf

See, even if she came back
I broke the Girlfriend Code
She'd never give me any slack
For daring to be so bold

It's been well over a year now
I've texted and called many times
I've got to get through this somehow
All I've got left is a poem full of rhymes
