madness spoke in a malicious way
altering my perceptions of world as it appears
pulling my veil from my eyes forcing me to view what was
but I could not look, I turn from the darkness
and swear curses under my breath

because pride’s black wings and ashen pinions
have wiped away a death that’s brilliant white
my visions of you visited moons today
and I have ridden the dark rays of your sight

it would do no good to the damn the dark
so, I seek shelter deep within
the evil would get my patented best character
I would show no fear
I would rise above and sink below

I will walk through her garden, addicted
silhouettes giving light where madness dwells
to run and play, feasting on bits of carrion
and the joy will deftly open her cocoon

still, it would never find me
my flesh in attendance here,
my soul carefully hidden

listen to the muse calling
momentary flickers abstain
drowning in a sea of eternal moons
sweet sanity plucked away

I bid you come close, I will peer inside you
while my doppelganger amuses you
