THAT FINE LINE

THAT FINE LINE
Of all the emotions a person could ever feel,
Love is the scariest and hardest to heal.
Excitement and mystery impossible to resist.
Promises unkept of magic perpetually persist.
We long for connection that's strong and true,
But love always does as love wants to do,
So to the emotion of love, I just want to say,
I'm better off without you; please just go away,
'Cause I want to live with a heart that  sings,
A smile that represents more than just a grin.
I'm not always happy, but at least I'm not always sad,
Or holding onto things and people I've never had,
Love can be impostor, a thief within the night,
Reduces flames to ashes that won't burn bright.
Love captains your emotions and steer your fate.
Love's an emotion that walks the fine line between hate.
