A Friend

In all my years of living
I've never had a friend
I could rely on forever
Whose friendship knows no end.

Consider yourself lucky
If such a friend you've found
Who in fair or Stormy weather
Would never let you down.

Most of us have never known
A friend like told above,
A playmate closest to the heart -
A comrade - to forever love.

I've longed for such a friendship
But nowhere could I see
A very special someone
That loved me for only me.

Most friendships fade away in time
And leave us feeling cold -
While many more move on, or die -
As our stay on earth grows old.

Then one night in His perfumed garden
In meditation there by the sea,
God appeared in the roll of friendship
Showed me what that roll should be.

That He was with me twenty four seven -
Each tick of my life to share,
In good times, and bad, and plenty -
He was forever there.

Then when late night lowered her curtain,
And the moon sailed the western shore,
On His carpet of musical love He took me -
To return to earth no more,
