The other Side of Darkness, a Witch, and a love Letter
A woman alone,
seeking comfort in the dark,
hoping to find serenity in the shadows,
but instead discovering purity of the night.
She once was young and full of light
a virgin trusting and naļve,
until the world came crashing down,
her soul buried deep beneath rape and incest,
memories alive forever in her mind
Cold, freezing cold,
a blizzard savaging her life.
Yet new desires grew from frozen ground,
everything lost but serenity found,
she whispers a gentle caress,
"I want you with my heart and soul".
With these words Night too felt love
and freed her tortured soul,
that she might see in the dark,
and guide her path,
to the other side of pain,
and so, create her own morality
Looking in from outside the world,
she saw what was meant to be,
and cried.
So one day she sought the blood of her enemies,
the ones who tortured her soul,
and left them in madness screaming,
clawing out eyes,
destroying the sins inside.
Feeling pleasure in their pain,
her life found meaning in drops of blood,
a witch reborn pleading ....

Author's Note
I wrote this and published this poem 3 days ago. With each successive reading, I found more and more flaws AND I envisaged a slightly different direction for the poem. So, as one edit led to another that, in turn, led to rewrites, and more rewrites a new poem emerged. I hope you approve. Warmest regards, Ryszard

So often not being in the light is comforting.
In the light so many secrets are concealed.
Pretending like everything is okay...
There is at least honesty in the darkness.
Even if the monsters reside there too.
And make a home in you forever.
Innocence is so fragile, it breaks so easily.
And yes, once lost it cannot be found again.
But new desires are conceived in it's place.
This insanity that infects the mind...
Growing into dark compulsions, losing inhibitions.
The need only grows to fill all the spaces,
in every way the darkness consumes your soul.
And in ways the light never could...
This intensity of desires, lust, and passion.
We have to follow the path before us.
For some that is through the darkest parts.
And it opens wounds, creates scars, and changes you.
In order to heal you have to embrace it,
otherwise you will be stuck in fear forever.
Never moving forward, the past destroying the soul.
These trials can instead make us more passionate.
Wiser, more empathetic, and more inspiring.
In that you have already defeated your enemies.
Because they seek to destroy your passion.
To take it for themselves because they lack it.
The best way to steal souls is to live.
People will always be attracted to that.
This never ending sense of adventure.
The desire to do everything, everywhere.
And then doing it...
I love the buildup, possibilities, and conquering.
I do love the dark twists, black magic, and power at the end.
It's great. ;)
You definitely know how to write a love letter. (and everything else too)

There is not much I wouldn't give to see through your eyes for an instant. I do not know if I would survive for longer than that but maybe I would give all, idk. There is such depth in you that I fear I would lose my way seeking the surface just to breathe. I love your reply as this is a thesis on becoming and empowerment in the dark, this seems a love letter to not only me but to the night.
One desire to rule them all, and in the darkness bind them.
