If You Don't Believe Me

Do you think I’m cowardly,
For not wanting to fight any more?
Do you think I’m gutless,
For avoiding the anguishing shame I can’t ignore?

Tell me and look me in the eye.
I’ll show you the pain if you don’t believe me.

Do you think I’m fainthearted,
For hoping for the best for those around me?
Do you think I’m spineless,
For having a menacing fear of everything I see?

Tell me when you see the control die.
I’ll show you the agony if you don’t believe me.

Do you think I’m wrong,
For being weak and unable to cope with this doubt?
Do you think I’m pathetic,
For hating how my life plays out?

Tell me when you see me cry.
I’ll show you the sorrow if you don’t believe me.

Do you think I’m pitiful,
For not wanting the sore battles in my mind?
Do you think I’m contemptible,
For leaving my loved ones behind?

Tell me as you say goodbye.
I’ll show you the torture if you don’t believe me.

Do you think it’s fair, that even with the entire struggle,
You choose to judge me and think less of me?
