Love and goodbyes

What is love?
Many people ask
To answer that question is not an easy task
Is it as peaceful as a dove?
As easy as the breeze?
No its not
Its hard
Its brutal
It might make you cry
To be honest its different
For each and every person, but
Sometimes to truly love someone
You must be able to say goodbye

He asked her out for a whole year
Each and every day
Always hoping for what she'd say
Then she said yes and held no fear
Then that date, became another
The love came and knocked on the door

I knew someone who truly felt love
Like an angel sent from above
They talked every night on the phone
They never felt alone
But he knew she didn't deserve him
She just was too pure
He was not the brightest guy
He made some missteps in the past
But he knew that his mistakes would always last
He had bought her a CD
That was truly full of love

Two people that were truly in love
The guy knew he was not a dove
He could not be good enough
He was traveling a different path
Yes he loved her but could not show any rath
He had gone to prison and probably would again
So he told her that he loved her
But said they must break up
Cause he didn't want to hurt her
He had to let her go
That love was endless
She knew she could forgive this
Because she knew the love would never die
Yet, they had to say goodbye
