I'm writing from the soul
coldness touches but isn't me
I ache in the loneliness without you
in the dark I fade

silently retreating inside me
in the shadows where I don't shine so brightly
where my differences are less apparent
and I can touch you without burning

solemnly I vow to be kind to your heart
little wanderer in love with the earth
I seek your company in the gentleness

a child of the day
keeping company with her lord
keening in melodies not meant for mortals

my sighs rise as prayers
a soul toiling in the noise
uniquely gifted and set apart

given over to darkness
so I would know your spirit
no matter the cost

I follow in your likeness
a fingerprint of the artist
a reflection of beauty

in the dark I stir
captivating your favor,
soothing your pain

I am as destined
don't look away
oh my lord please see me in the cold
