I chose my sanity over you
It felt like I was under water,
And you kept telling me to hold on and breathe.
But you stole the oxygen that I needed.
I didn't want to tell you the truth,
But there was no other way.
I wanted real love, but yours was fake.
You don’t treat me like I do.
You had a lot to prove.
And I had everything to loose.

Sometimes we have to choose the health of our sanity over being in unhealthy relationships (be it with a person or a job or organisation) to think straight. I could have written this poem about the employer I decided to leave after two months when i was 25.It lead to me working for one where I am still here.
