Sacred Promise

Enchanting serenity,
still waters and babbling brooks,
a welcome for all,
yet not all are welcome.
For there is a war for the soul of poetry
and our love of vacuous beauty

A lovely woman walking by,
beguiling perfume scents the air,
yet reaching for this memory she disappears,
leaving nothing but empty air,
as if she was never there

Petals strewn upon the ground,
the aftermath of a poor flower's torture,
so lovely we forget, beauty
can be empty and cruel,
beauty without a heart is cold
just unending sadness hidden in a dream

Poems of pain and sorrow,
poems of nights' dark pleasures,
lost souls and broken hearts,
are the sharpened blades of my poetry,
that weep my blood and cry despair

lost with no direction home,
I come as refugee seeking peace.
Yet I give my promise to all,
that within my raw and awkward prose,
you will find the light of my spirit,
consecrated by sacred pledge,
I offer you my loving soul
