Kamikaze Sky
Devil lives on the sun
Drinks 100 proof fire for liquor
His last call waving me over
Beckoning his destruction
In the name of seduction
Sitting oh so all alone
Up high on his inferno throne
Wants to melt me down
Wear me like a golden crown
But deep down I know
I’m not the only one

Dear A,
I maybe reading into this on a personal level, I felt an overwhelming feeling of betrayal amongst these words. While things will eventually calm down it won’t be before the devil takes his due and our heroine will land on her feet. A bit tired and maybe a bit tattered but still beautiful and not about about to take another piece of bullsh*t. For me, there is a great deal of metaphor throughout that makes this poem not only relatable but a story of great interest. Top shelf write. H🌷

You can vent all you want. In a way, we all do to a degree when we write and post our stuff.
This poem is full of great lines, that make us as readers want to raise a glass to your bravado.
Awesome craftsmanship. And music really is your best friend, because you grab that particular song and absorb into so many great poems.

It is. Having the rug pulled out from under you doesn't feel good
at all. I hate having my home life feel unstable. If only everything would stay perfect. But that is unrealistic. I'm no angel either.

I can almost hear the music, this is so viscerally lyrical. The ache of brutal betrayal mixes with the gumption that I always feel oozes from you... These lyrics resonate so amazingly clear, because like you write, you're not the only one...
The strength and bite of venom written within the last lines, makes for a perfect poetic punch.
I hope with this purge piece and with time there's some healing on your horizon...

Adelphina, this is alive with lyricism. The mood and melody took me right in. I felt the apocalyptic myth like smooth bourbon on a plane ride to the depths of emotions and darkness. The fires burned bright within your words. And I felt every note in this song of truth.
