Circling Sharks...

(Billy Snagg / UnspokenReality)

I have climbed the highest peaks,
Plunged new depths of a vast ocean,
Trapped by whiteouts of a snowy squall -
Deep in its own devotion.

I have sought a sea of change,
While throwing caution to the wind.
I hedged my bets on gilt-edged bonds,
Wagering everything for what we had.

Was I wrong or right to choose,
To hide the turmoil from within,
To lay it down where a bounty is found -
This whirlwind frenzy, our cosmic void?

As I put my cards upon the table,
With rising fear, like circling sharks,
I blindly fought the love I sought -
Forever shining, in the dark.

Author's Note
(256) I approached UnspokenReality with a few lines that had not yet formed a definitive narrative. She threw in some turmoil, then suddenly we had a story!
