that we have come to this

there are lies when
we are born

there are lies on the
faces of fly's buzzing
around the brush
tail of a sleepy horse
in the dirt dry heat
of summer

there are lies on the
faces, eyes and mouths
of our mothers

there are lies  on the
faces, eyes and hands
of our fathers

there are lies from the
pulpit wrapped around
self rightousness

there are lies in the way
we live life

and we wait for
it

look for
it

hope for
it

that one small
truth

no bigger than a
half grain of sugar
moving through
the intestines of
an ant

but ringing louder
than cathedral
bells

shinning brighter
than the coins on
a dead man's eyes

as we look up and
see blue everywhere

and realize

the sky is
sad
