I read somewhere that only 2%
of men are fully gay.
(“And 2% is all you need, wahey!”)
The other 98% are shades of gay
and straight or bi, or too busy humping
in fur-suits to make the right reply.
I feel exotic now, a rainbow flag
from top to toe, when last a fag
burned out was all I felt.
Especially now that I have an excuse
for why I don’t get dates;
other than, of course,
my looks and personality.

Self-deprecation in the best possible British way. You don't have to be Pitt or Depp / Johansson or Theron to drag someone to bed.
Sexuality is a strange beast. What is it that homophobes truly fear? Attended a lady wedding couple of years ago and by the reaction of some of my friends you'd think it was Rose West & Myra Hindley walking down the aisle. Were they threatened, affronted their masculinity, that they just happened to be 2 attractive ladies?

Given Depp’s track record with partners, I’m glad I’m not him! I was going to either open or close with Alan Bennett’s line about how asking his sexuality is like asking a man who’s just crawled across the desert if he’d prefer Perrier or Evian.
I have a theory that a lot of sexual prejudice comes down to misogyny. To quote the patron saint of gay men, Madonna, “you think that dressing like a girl is degrading, because you think that being a girl is degrading.”
