I never asked to be a diamond
Under constant pressure
Expected to embrace confinement
I'd much rather reject forced refinement
Than continue in this climate
Really, will there ever be a time when
Imperfection is invited
Not shamed
Excellence is natural
Not staged
And proclaiming softness is seen as truly powerful and brave

"Expected to embrace confinement" - brilliant.
This can be taken a couple of ways, actually. The pressure of being "all that", the rigid structure of what is expected.
A great write you have here. But too brief! I get selfish for more good stuff. Yours is.

The ‘embrace confinement’ is very good indeed, but ‘imperfection is invited’ is even so much better.
The poem is so beautiful, but very true at the same time:
In this time of robotic monotony/uniformity, the small imperfections are the bearer of beauty.
I’m a little late with my praise, but it’s meant whole heartedly.
