A Midnight Plea
I do think
You see my pleas
You care for me
At least to some degree
Yet what I cannot comprehend
Is why you turn away
You stand, a stony cliff
On which my tears crash and spray
As you remain
Unchanged
I do so often feel
The love I promised to believe in
Still holds true
But tonight I doubt
And think i am the fool
An injured wreck
At best you sometimes pity
At worst you hate & fear
Yet, even in this hopeless night
I love and want you, Dear.
My hollow longs to hear
Even just a whispered hint
That if you could, you’d draw me near.
Touch this trickling tear
With the tenderness of yesteryear
Grant me a morsel of your care
You see my pleas
You care for me
At least to some degree
Yet what I cannot comprehend
Is why you turn away
You stand, a stony cliff
On which my tears crash and spray
As you remain
Unchanged
I do so often feel
The love I promised to believe in
Still holds true
But tonight I doubt
And think i am the fool
An injured wreck
At best you sometimes pity
At worst you hate & fear
Yet, even in this hopeless night
I love and want you, Dear.
My hollow longs to hear
Even just a whispered hint
That if you could, you’d draw me near.
Touch this trickling tear
With the tenderness of yesteryear
Grant me a morsel of your care
