The Only Thing I Need
If you discover that I am wrong
Educate me
Provide me with the tools that I may need to be a better man
Converse with me instead of talking at me
I have spent my entire life disagreeing, at this stage all I need is stimulation
Because in the end the only thing that I need is my wings
Without you I am far less of a being,
My exterior may seem tuff but in all honesty my heart still bleeds
These tears still flow, even though you may have never seen them
Thoughts still cross my mind and so I continue to pray that you will be on the other end of this phone
Words don’t seem all that heavy when you don’t have a reason to speak them
So whenever we converse I try to saver those moments
I try to understand…I try to be present
Because the day that you trust me enough to give me your heart
I will trust you enough to be my wings
And although it does not seem to be an even trade
Believe me when I tell you the wings are far more important
Without you I cannot fly,
Is it not my responsibility to protect the person that I love the most?
When you are scared is it not my responsibly to stand ten toes down?
If the day ever comes and we find ourselves against the world I will be there to withstand those hits
Lay it all down on the line and fight till I take my last breath and finally release my final thoughts
If I am going to love, I am going to love hard
I am going to put every ounce of love to work
So when that final day comes we will be able to say that,
If I didn’t do anything else,
I really and truly loved
