Image for the poem Midnight River

Midnight River

a luminescent glow falls from the moon
peaking through translucent sky
reflecting off of the glimmering stream

reaching down and gliding pebbles
almost skipping with them
moss tickles her soles
an emerald fern

transparent cloth drapes over her bare flesh
soon wrapping her thighs and ascending her torso
sealing her chest with fabric
as she steps into the midnight river

a quiet soul
who breaths of clouds
and whispers confessions

falls into the midnight river
drowning
in the crystal water

her own emptiness consumes her
of what she wishes she could be

muffled voices only consist of howling winds
a quiet place
that surrounds the midnight river
filled with a single lonesome soul
