Trailing

Yes, there were things needed and I know this sounds strange
But when we left the house the sun was out so why expect rain
Hand in hand we started our normal walk, with much love for each other
Life is but a simple walking trail that we share with each other

At first things were so smooth as we learned of each other
Creating our very on path through life totally unlike any others
The path was so smooth as we learned the secrets of each other's ways
The conversation flowed unhindered as if someone was ahead clearing our way

But the trail progressed and as destined it became somewhat more difficult
We both expected the transition, so it was determined it was no ones fault
As the trail became more difficult it became harder to walk and hold hands
Faced the immediate trips and falls of the trail, we forgot what love demands

At times walking side by side, other times one lead and the other followed
The limbs and stones becames so much bigger, the choices harder to swallow
You deciding on one path with us separation only to meet up ahead
So many other travelers on these trails, all trying to get up into our heads

Low hanging branches, and we're forced to walk through puddles and streams
Our view of the trail becomes cloudier as strangers invaded our dreams
Some jogging around us, while others walk right between our midst
As we hit the highest and most over grown place on the trail, it began to mist

This is the descent, We should view it as the easiest part of the trail
But with so many separations along the way, that ship has sailed
It takes a few stumbles and falls before we're back to holding hands again
The conversation although difficult returns as the mist becomes rain

Totally drenched we dredged along, being cleansed of past mistakes
We're both accepting each other's truths, finally again some give and take
As we burst forth from the treeline, our home, our haven came into sight
We so much better for this walk along the treacherous trails of life
