Sleeping Alone

I sleep so much better now
because I sleep alone
No crumpled covers on my bed
No pillow fights at home

I hardly have to straighten
the side where you would dream
I smooth my hand across the sheets
that I lie in between

Only silence comes across
from your side of the bed
No more worry about who you're with
or other things I dread

I saw you just the other day
You looked and smiled at me
Your fingers intertwined with hers
Then I sighed in relief

I went home and took a pill, curled up in my bed

I sleep so much better now
