Inside Autumn

wrapped in your arms,
the cracks of the fire pop throughout my ears

mixed with orange citrus,
your scent of cinnamon spice puts me in a trance

i'm in a field of oats and daisies

occasional breezes blow through my knitted sweater
restoring my silked skin

i begin to run

chestnut hair flutters and whips
smothers my blushed face

hovering clouds start to soften
drifting through the royal sky

a rocky path
collapses me to my knees

your eyes are seen again
and i'm feeling your heart start to beat again

what has faded will one day reappear
but only in my dreams
