Full Disclosure

I’m prone to joy
    and not to depression,
transparent to the point
     of shameless self-confession,
I’m an open book
     overt and uninhibited,
vices and virtues
     equally exhibited,
frank and outspoken
     since I was very young
I’ve never figured out
     when I should hold onto my tongue
but I speak my mind
     without fear or filtration,
which can cause
     considerable consternation.

I utilize my words
     to the best of my ability,
hoping to amuse
     with erudite agility,
I’m as good at what I do
     as I know how to be,
I expect a lot of others
     but even more of me,
I’ve never been very good
     at doing what I’m told,
none of this is gonna change.
     I’m getting pretty old.
