massacre between green blades
when creatures
took a turn
there was
disaster
having to watch
cockroaches breed
grief, disharmony
& disease in a
short time-span,
crawling one
place to another
earth highlighted
their failures
until a
preying-mantis
came to destroy
ever-growing
flocks.

i'm quite a fan of the humble insect and definitely agree with you about mantises being badass, i always felt like the mantis could be classified as the pai-mei's of the insect world 😆
interestingly they're also cousins of cockroaches which is shocking considering how uniform they often look but there are over 4500 different species of them where as the humble mantis only has around over 2000 but always stand out in their ways and their form

I'm a huge fan of them! And they definitely aren't humble! Lol.
I remember seeing my first one when I was around 6 years old. It was eating a caterpillar like a piece of corn on the cob. I was absolutely amazed.
