Purse

I saw her across the room,
She saw me and smiled
Meeting like hurtling trains
Breathless I stared into her
And saw forever.
Drifting in free fall, weightless
We danced our lust.
I touched her face, soft
She touched my heart, hard
I need you, I want you
Now, now. I want to taste your
Skin, your mouth, your hidden
Places.
Those fiery words
Meant to be thought
I said it out loud
She looked at me
Startled.
She turned and fled.
Alone. Aghast. I stood
Alone. She looked back
Only once.
I turn to leave. Ashamed.
Too eager, too hot, you fool!
I hit the door stumbling.
Hand on my shoulder.
She is here. Touching me.
You want me? You need me
And then you flee?
Why did you flee, leave me
Standing there.
Afraid I'd given offense.
She smiles. Purse,
I couldn't leave it behind.
