drifitng rain clouds

I’ve got the shifting aimless in my veins
I listen to sad songs to remind me that I’m alive
because positive affirmations don’t feel real
in this white walled world

Some days I can’t remember who I am
if you remember, come find me there
I would love to know your face
like I love all the faces that come through
the revolving door of temporary desolation

Cause we call need to sleep sometimes
it doesn’t matter how
as long as our heads hit a pillow
and we turn off long enough
to find semi-dreamed peace

Can you tell that I’m lonely?
I dial numbers that don’t pick up
that don’t have the time
that sometimes
don’t have the heart

We’re like clouds passing each other by
in the different layers of atmosphere
and the sameness of each day
condenses me into rain clouds
that drizzle but evaporate before
they hit the ground
like I never misted at all

I’ve got the shifting aimless in my veins
I listen to sad songs to remind me that I’m alive
because positive affirmations don’t feel real
in this white walled world

I’m lonely and these walls are a prison
that follow me wherever I go
