The Midnight Girl
They praised constancy long ago
Before the stabilizing drugs
Turned every stern virago
Into someone who gives out hugs.
It was then, as now, much to ask
Of almost any lovely chick
That they hunker down and stay on task
Without sounding like a total dick.
So most fortunate indeed is he
Whose Lady is beautiful and smart
And does not always disagree
In crucial matters of the heart.
And though the years flash by quickly
As we both grow way too old
My thoughts of her will nay grow sickly
Since her value always outweighs gold!
Thus I salute my midnight girl
Who spoils me like a wealthy earl!
