Betrayed

I've watched you endure the pain with remorse
Traveling a path with the ultimate force
Following your heart you travel a course
Looking for a love that has no source

When first approached you said, "let me live"
So I allowed you to try and fill a sieve
No matter what or how much you put in
It was like trying to catch the wind

How could you let him switch the roles
Him inside while you remain cold
Being inconsiderate and full of deceit
Demandingly treating you like a piece of meat

Not that I object to a night of pleasure
Simply awaking besides you has got to be a treasure
But to take all and give none
Would be like a trip to ecstasy with no fun

But you was his and there was no love to share
So I accepted friendship to show how much I cared
My only signs of affection was my smile and stare
Letting him know that he'd best beware

It was only with you that I could confide
How much it hurt to hold everything inside
Just watching him take you for a ride
Was enough to make me consider suicide

But a little at a time you found his flaws
Self preservation being his only law
Finally realizing he wasn't what you needed
I think his other intimates planted the seeds

How could he prefer sewage to a mountain spring
Rather hear a crow's squawk to a nightingale sing
While I offered you an escape, a ride upon my wings
He decided to idle and let your love hang

But an idle mind looses more than time
This is when I got a hint, my first sign
Totally baffled, full of confusion
To enter into your life maybe more than an intrusion

But I have to take the chance, I can't stay away
Finally being in touch with everything you do or say
Makes me appreciate life and want another day
To keep you ever so close is what my heart prays

Letting you know that you're the essence of my every breath
Only the force of love can hold back death
To absorb all that you have to give
Believe me, I'll return just as much to fill the sieve

Sitting here thinking of your beautiful face
Your mesmerizing eyes and succulent taste
With you by my side, my confidence will rise
While all my problems demise

I feel as though I've accomplished the ultimate feat
Since it took forever for heaven and me to meet
Playing in your hair strand after strand
Makes me realize that your love is in demand

If good things come to those who wait
