Gates

The matchmaker came by today, but there was no match to be made
Loneliness was collecting debts and fate demanded he be paid
Before I arrived my life had been been mapped out
Fate only allowed me to live so that he could watch me tap out

How could there be so much joy and love to be had and I remain as I am
I walk the garden of Eden with no Eve, there is only me, I am man
Even I deserve something, the lowliest creature of the low
To have someone to hold them tight and say, "I love you so"

I would gladly give a rib, I would even give two
To be like the animals of my garden and have my own boo
Hell take half of the life that I have left and give it to my Eve
If there is only one breath left to be had then I refuse to breathe

Everything is so beautiful here in my garden, but I'm afraid to even touch
Fate has already warned me, I'm like Midas, I can kill with the slightest brush
To be trapped in the most beautiful of prisons can drive you insane
This is like solitary confinement slowly eating away at your brain

Should I accept the hell that the snake promises to be so great
He promises me there there is an Eve, also looking for a mate
I'm going to listen to his words, giving the middle finger to Fate
Grabbing the serpent by the tail and letting him lead me through Hell's gates
