Fine

*link to this being sung at the end of poem*

Your place is empty, the paint’s faded thin
For a few weeks you’re twenty, then the bars’ll let you in
And are you alone? Have you made any friends?
I’m not all that busy. Sometimes I just pretend

I try to go out, bought tickets for a show
but at the last minute decided I don’t want to go alone
How much I love’s always so disproportionate
If you made me yours would it be so unfortunate?

How many me’s
Do I have to be
Til life decides I’m ready
For the you that won’t leave?

And I won’t waste time
Fitting you in my life
(But if you come around
Well I guess that’d be fine)

You say the time
will pass by in the blink of an eye
Now it’s so quiet
and you probably don’t even realize

That I can’t wait forever - I ’ll be by your side
But a home with no center’s just an off-track lonely mine
But just like an ember needs life to survive
Or just like the weather, it changes in time

How many me’s
Do I have to be til
I decide I don’t need
You to help me fall asleep?

I won’t waste your time
I still fantasize
(But if you change your mind, well I guess that’d be fine)

Author's Note
This is actually a song I wrote yesterday, if you’re interested in hearing the poem with music Ill leave the link. Maybe it might be cool to compare the difference in feeling you get with vs without the music.
