Medusa's Profile

In the inconvenient era
Before the motorheads and geeks
We emulated Zeus and Hera
And other pre-Socratic Greeks.
Philosophy was analog
Unlike modern bits and pieces
And navigated bronze age fog
To snatch away those golden fleeces!
And no one knew of Sigmund Freud
Peddling thoughts of Oedipal trance
Which only would have been destroyed
By a renegade Gorgon glance.
Which, of peekaboo, is the worst;
A "reflection" of Hellenic Id,
And is customarily dispersed
From eyeballs with a lifting lid.
Gaze not into that girasol;
Stare not into her hellish looks!
Heed early that fierce caterwaul
Unlike those other stony schnooks
Who long ago could not compel
Their favor to a safer place
Like the oracles which might foretell
Of that future digital race
Who use machines to help dispel
The need to staff...their panopticon hell.
