The Faeries

The faeries dance and swirl,
'Round and 'round they twirl,
Where they stop, they don't know,
Where they go, no one does know.
One by one they vanish,
Leaving a world to tarnish.
With their final goodbye,
No more to fly up in the sky,
Along the pleasant breeze,
To leave behind, the rain's rainbow,
Or to bask in the moon's glow.

The faeries dance and swirl,
'Round and 'round, they twirl,
A fading, dying light,
Leaving behind, this somber night.
Gone forever, a thought so sobering,
Happiness, a memory, fleeting.
Little wisps of what they once were,
Now gone so long, others hardly remember
If they were real or just a dream,
Down by the forest stream,
In the dappled moonbeam.
