Safe Arbor

I saw her shuffling feathers
As she sank into her nest
Out of all the gentle weathers
The season threw at her red breast.
She laid a brood amid the vines
Which will bear autumnal hops
Around the nest that it entwines
Just beyond spring's rainy drops,
But if I venture way too near
She will launch herself post haste
Away from that which flavors beer
Wherein her home is interlaced,
But Mother Redbreast soon returns
To rest upon her new concerns!
