Lost
“Lost”
Tell me what I have lost…
I just don’t know anymore.
I’ve been gone for some long, long time,
And it’s getting dark where the road has led me.
Sometimes I believe I am underground,
And the clouds are coming to rain on my grave.
The flowers would grow there as in Heaven—
Just another place where you’ll never find me.
Take this life from me and show me the ashes.
I’m scared of what is left to burn.
There is darkness among the flames.
I’ve been there, and I think I’m going back for more.
Sometimes I believe I never died,
And that the sun shines on my face.
I can smell the flowers as though in Heaven—
Just another place I hoped I’d see.
But I know a place where we can go…
It’s far from now and feels like home.
Do you miss that place, the same as I?
Though of course, we’ve never been.
Sometimes, I believe we’d be welcomed
To this place where we can pass away.
The flowers are all mine and yours—
We have only to believe
That what we have lost may be found
In another life where we can go home.
