Cravings

I feel the mania creeping in
With its skin chilling whisper,
Lips brushing my ear.
Wild eyes glitter
As an old familiar smile
Spreads across my face.
I am euphoric.

Too much caffeine
And not enough sleep
Fuels my nicotine spiked
Anxiety trip.

My mind replays
Flashes of today's wonders—
Finding shapes in clouds,
Sweet milestones of motherhood,
And the smile
On my wild child's face.

Like thunder rumbling
In the distance,
Old cravings threaten
Months of progress,
With dollar store bleach in my hair
And vixen worthy makeup
On my face
To scratch the itch.

I will survive the night.
