No Way Back
You once asked me if
I got thrown into life too early
It seems ironic for you to ask considering
That while you held me in your belly
I did not want to leave at all.
You went a month over your due date
And when your body was ready to push me away
I clung, kicked and screamed for a chance to stay.
I tangled myself in your insides so bad
As if I wanted to choke on your intestines.
The doctors had to cut you open and
Remove me like a tumor.
I scarred you for life
No, I don't think I got to life too early
Rather, it feels like I shouldn't have gotten here at all.
