There Is No Us
There is no us;
where would we
exist?
You rejected us
on every level,
in every dimension,
above and below,
between and beyond, before and after,
while in bed
and before
we drag there,
in duty,
endurance,
publicly,
privately,
nutritionally,
faithfully,
aesthetically,
authentically,
artistically,
artificially,
plainly,
exotically,
chronologically, interdimensionally, cosmically,
and I can't remember
the last time
we kissed
like it mattered
at all.
You left
not a smidge
for the volume
of two,
and now
there's no us,
there's only
just you.
There is no us;

Your unmatched personal bravery in revealing such deep raw truths makes me want to reach out through the cyber ether and cradle away the cold harshness of it all, RT....

This piece is a raw assessment of reality.
Being emotionally available is very difficult for some people.
It's not the fact of it that is the greatest issue. So many people have trauma, addictions, abuse, moral conflicts, poor mentoring in childhood, and emotional issues that are biochemical or congenital or mental health problems.
Human beings are messy.
It's the inability to be open or honest or forth coming or to even have the decency to allow others to know and understand in order to at least give them choices about their own lives.
I can understand. I can deal with complexity. I can be empathetic with what others are facing. Hell, they don't know that whatever their sense of reality is isn't something that dovetails with my own twisted sense of reality.
I would just simply like to be able to make that choice, decision, or determination for myself.
Whatever someone has that they are afraid to admit, there is no use adding subterfuge and lying or avoidance of disclosure to the mix.
If someone is not able to handle your truth, at least give them the respect to end things.
There are so many sides to these kinds of relationships, but it defies humanity to not allow people to make up their own minds and come to their own conclusions.
Life is short and precious and irreplaceable, and to unfairly string someone along or play with their heart or create a false sense of relationship is simply not good sportsmanlike conduct.
Being up front in a relationship is tough. Being honest with yourself is a beast. No one likes to admit their worst. But creating a facade and dragging someone else through insincerity is simply inhumane.
Devotion is a terrible thing to waste. Affection. Care. Empathy. Beingness.
To come to that conclusion, to be misled, to be told one thing and then left high and dry.....destroys trust and self-esteem...and wastes time.
The only way to recover that is to honor the process, learn from it, to use that brokenness as an inspiration to pull back the veil. To give it purpose is to make it a useful experience.
Lastly....I'm a fucking great kisser. Those kisses could have gone to someone who would have cherished and valued them.
As it is....I stored them away for someone who might give a damn.
