tenderness
melancholy lover of my soul
you see me true and love me still
I cradle you to my breast and ask you forgive me my trespass
a gentle flower weeping
love is out of my depths
a tender offering I give you
I shy in your stare
I know what you see
I'm a darkling
and it hurts to be so different
an odd girl, a misfit
holding tightly to my beliefs
honesty my covering and my fault
singing my truths to the listening winds
I shelter in the shadow of doubt
taken by your artistry
I covet your quiet resolve
it is beautiful to me
with a power I'm not sure you know you wield
calming the maddening storms
that's what you do
I gaze into your eyes and know I'm home
even while adrift in the world
there is sanctuary in your smile
I will keep to the way
chaste of heart
