Then I will forget you

Do you think I need you less
The longer you are clothed in fog?
Does the long dark winter
Erase desire for the sun?
No! The more your absence clouds my days,
The MORE I’m famished
for your rays of light and peace and love
To warm and illuminate my moments

As your absence ages
The taste for you matures
In my longing need.
Do you think I can forget your voice
Or stop listening for its memory?
No! Your touch drew lines upon my DNA
replicated many times again
Until you are a part of me
It’s written in my blood and on my bones
To need you
My muscles pulse in search
of your Energizing Magic

Do you think I won’t love you anymore?
Maybe when my final heartbeat fades
My last synapse finishes transmission
Maybe when my lungs collapse, exhausted
Maybe then I will forget you
Maybe when my ashes scatter
Only then might this love of you
Finally scatter with the wind & sea
Until then
I will not forget you
