Conflict

We made love last night after a really intense day
You and I both on edge, seems nothing was going our way
You had questions, the kind that really deserved answers
But it seemed to you that I was no more than an issues dancer

Side stepping with a bullfighter's move any serious topic
Seemingly ignoring you, when you ask that I stop it
You question our relationship, is there anything about it that's true
You know how you feel for me, but do I feel the same for you

Just to walk past each other, you could feel the tension
The status of our relationship is hanging in suspension
But all door are still open and I'm not thinking of me first
It just that your questions are as if I'm thinking of me first

As we finally decide to settle down and talk things out
This is really our first chance to work things out
My first chance to find out what this is really about
To possibly answer your questions, clearing all of your doubts

While sitting across the table staring into each other's eyes
We both answer questions unasked and some that were denied
This isn't a debate, it's a fair exchange of how we really feel
You were grappling with the question of, if this is really real

Questions of my childhood are sternly and quickly warded
When you entered into my life the pain and my past simply parted
Like a victim of amnesia you and your love is the only thing that I recollect
For simple reasons you are the only thing that my heart and mind collects

Everyrhing else goes straight to short term memory
And just like my past I hope that it doesn't remember me
