I like the phrase “over the mined thing drool”, and the use of a list of different gemstones in the last verse. There’s real poetry there.

Gems of souls make people more precious than any metal or gemstone. You took the metaphor into a cosmic realm where the dust of stars represents the sacred being of our essence. I loved exploring your analogies and the exploration of values they took me on. The character and compassion of a person transcend any worldly substance. You illustrate that principle beautifully and profoundly. Love where this poem took me.

Excellent meter and steady rhythm here. The repetition of “what’s better…” is a very catchy riff. Then there’s the metaphor and message throughout which is kindness itself. Lovely write. H🌷

Love this, lesson that the better gems are not found underground. Favourite verses:

What's better than rubies?  
Crimson roses and rosy lips  
I do and maybe you too already have them!  

What's better than emeralds?  
Feline eyes glowing in the dark.  
Ah Lord! That fluorescent emerald spark!  

What's better than silver?  
The hope that every cloud has a silver lining  
Even miners they don't enjoy the mining.  
It takes effort crafting and polishing a poem.

Subject of gemstones brings to mind the verse from Bible Book of Proverbs Chapter 31 - 'A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies."

Dude this is freaking tight, and so dang true. We always think of women as various jewels, not all people, but women until they prove otherwise. But this is tight, just think of everyone. That could get you seriously hurt where we come from, but it's cool to think that way

I just thought of this bit of trivia, that Kilawea is the worlds deepest volcano, spewing semi precious gems that are blue in color, and only were formed thousands of miles beneath the earth.  It takes a lot of pressure to produce gems and time.  People can be just as precious that way, nice ode to gems :)
