For those 4 words
How I wish I knew your heart
Instead of this stumbling in the dark
It’s the same every day and more just now
I miss you. I want you. I still love you somehow.
Where did you bury your heart?
I fear I know deep down.
It just never truly belonged to me
But mine has always been yours
Don’t you see?
Though I wear this mask through the days
Inside I’m wandering a darkening haze
That hides you more and farther away
If only to have you once again say
“I do love you!”
This silence aches
Instead of this stumbling in the dark
It’s the same every day and more just now
I miss you. I want you. I still love you somehow.
Where did you bury your heart?
I fear I know deep down.
It just never truly belonged to me
But mine has always been yours
Don’t you see?
Though I wear this mask through the days
Inside I’m wandering a darkening haze
That hides you more and farther away
If only to have you once again say
“I do love you!”
This silence aches
