softness was your name, so gentle of faith
leaning in talking tenderly how could I not like you?
sunshine in a glance lit up with a smile
I saw your truth
honesty was your covering
in a world of covetous gossips
you had an easy sway to your hips
said follow me this is how we walk through the flames
I was entranced so I follow
inside myself calmed by your presence
a woman of value
perhaps an angel
guiding my steps in case I stumble
I saw you on my periphery just out of sight
but there lighting the way none the less
courage is what you lent me
I rose the the challenge
knowing you had my back
I draw strength from you
you watched me war
wherever you may be today
understand I saw you
I got your messages
sunshine in a glance
an angel over my tomorrows
I will never forget

Author's Note
this poem is about a strange occurrence in my life I was twenty seven and reality had frayed at the edges I was going through a very hard time in my life and encounter angels I think...I was asleep on the couch I had forgotten everything even the most mundane things like eating... well the tv was on and it spoke it told me not on my watch that my daughter had an appointment at school... I was on time that day because of that angel...during this period of time I walked to the store and had my two year old on my shoulders I was weak from methadone withdrawal and almost fell with her on my shoulders a jogger came up from behind me and caught us...I had court and there were angels there too...walking easily showing me what to do... I was all balled up inside they helped keep my cool...

"softness was your name, so gentle of faith" that opening line really sets the stage into what must've been a difficult time but receiving some divine help.
